On April 3, Dr. Can Cui visited Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) to conduct outreach activities as part of the Peer-to-Peer Safety Program. The visit focused on engaging students through interactive education and direct feedback opportunities.
Dr. Cui began with a visit to a Construction Management class, where she delivered a presentation on pedestrian, bicycle, and e-scooter safety. Students actively participated in the discussion and signed safety pledge cards, reflecting their commitment to adopting safer travel behaviors.
Following the classroom session, Dr. Cui conducted an on-the-go survey in the campus library, a high-traffic student area. This face-to-face approach provided students with the opportunity to ask questions, receive immediate feedback, and discuss safety topics in a more interactive setting. Compared to traditional remote survey methods, the in-person engagement yielded stronger participation and more meaningful dialogue, with many students noting that they gained valuable insights and appreciated the direct interaction.
