On April 22, Dr. Can Cui traveled to Florida Polytechnic University to deliver an in-person safety workshop as part of the Peer-to-Peer University Pedestrian and Bicyclist Safety Education and Outreach Program.
During the workshop, Dr. Cui engaged students in discussions about pedestrian, bicycle, and e-scooter safety, with a special focus on real-world travel behaviors, common risk factors, and practical strategies for staying safe on and around campus. Using interactive questions, crash examples, and student-centered discussion, the session encouraged participants to think more critically about the transportation choices they make every day.
The workshop also highlighted how campus safety is a shared responsibility. By helping students better understand visibility, crossing behavior, riding practices, and the importance of being alert in mixed-traffic environments, the program aims to promote safer transportation choices across Florida’s universities.
The Peer-to-Peer Program continues to support university communities through in-person outreach, education, and student engagement efforts designed to make walking, biking, and micromobility safer for everyone.
