Brian Gentry and Abigail Flores of Hillsborough County will present interesting details related to the history of Hillsborough County Traffic Management. Additionally, the team will present some details about infrastructure and Core Services within the county. The team will also present on county transportation initiatives along with key performance indicators (KPIs) that are used to measure performance within the county.
Brian Gentry is the senior professional traffic management engineer for Hillsborough County. He is tasked with developing Hillsborough County’s Traffic Management Center (TMC) and Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) programs. Brian has worked in traffic operations for 17 years with previous responsible positions within the private sector, as well as serving as Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 7 Transportation Management & Operations (TSM&O) Engineer and City of Tampa TMC Manager. He is licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE); he has earned the Professional Traffic Operations Engineering (PTOE) certification, Advanced Maintenance of Traffic (AMOT) certification, and International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Traffic Signal Level III certification. Mr. Gentry has also provided sworn expert trial testimony regarding traffic signal operation and traffic crashes.
Abigail Flores is a licensed professional engineer in Florida and California with 20 years of professional experience in the public sector including engineering design, project management, traffic investigations, multimodal network planning, community engagement, and roadway safety. She has collaborated with Public Health, Metropolitan Planning Organizations, State DOTs, local agencies, and NCHRP on Pedestrian Plans in underserved communities, the Vision Zero Initiative, multimodal facility guidelines, and transportation research. Ms. Flores works to make the beautiful outdoors accessible to locals and visitors and to support a high quality of life for residents through safe, attractive transportation options. She is the safety and mobility program manager for Hillsborough County based in Tampa, Florida. Ms. Flores leads the development and implementation of transportation programs to enhance safety for people on local transportation networks and provide people access to places they want to go in their mode of choice. She also oversees the project development, design, and construction of over 20 projects funded by a $19.6 million-dollar Safe Streets 4 All grant from the Biden Administration.
