Alex Kolpakov (director of Tampa Bay Clean Cities Coalition) and Kiley Barton (Clean Cities intern) attended the Accelerate training in late February at the Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) located in Lemont, IL.
Accelerate is an internship program managed by ANL to support the activities of Clean Cities and Communities coalitions. The 1.5-day workshop included training exercises focused on effective management of the Clean Cities coalitions and engagement with stakeholders. Alex and Kiley gained insight from some of Argonne’s employees on goal setting, social media engagement, communication strategies, and Fuel Life-Cycle Environmental and Economic Transportation (AFLEET) tools. It was also a great opportunity to connect with other coalitions from across the country and listen to their experiences.
The workshop concluded with site visits to Argonne’s Materials Engineering Research Facility, a cutting-edge facility for testing the integration of electric vehicles focused on scale-up and commercialization of advanced materials, and a storage-ring-based high-energy X-ray light source facility. Thank you to Lisa Heineman of ANL and everyone else involved in organizing this event!
