The Tampa Bay Citizens Safety Academy (TBCSA) has been established by CUTR, with funding from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 7. Led by CUTR faculty members Jason Jackman and Tia Boyd, TBCSA aims to engage all road users in FDOT District 7 and increase awareness of national, statewide, and district-specific safety initiatives. Through outreach and education, the program empowers participants to become safety ambassadors and contribute to FDOT’s Target Zero goal. TBCSA builds on CUTR’s previous work with the Tampa Bay Citizens Academy on Transportation (TB-CAT) and FDOT’s Target Zero workshops. Originating from Jackman and Boyd’s collaboration on TB-CAT, the academy focuses on effective community engagement strategies, including outreach and safety presentations. “We’re excited to build on our best practices and take the Tampa Bay Citizens Safety Academy to the next level!” said Jackman.
