Equipment

Please do not remove any of the equipment from the room.

  • Computer
  • ELMO (Document reader) – used for paper documents or acts as a classroom camera if adjusted by turning the camera to face the audience.
  • Handheld mic – used for the presenter or for questions from the audience.
  • Lapel mic (Lav) – used for the presenter.
  • Room mic – used for minor sounds in the classroom. It is recommended to use the handheld mic for the audience.
  • Room camera – camera mounted in the rear of the classroom. There are four presets located on the room control panel, but the camera can be adjusted using the controls.
  • Room control pad – panel next to computer. Used for changing inputs for the computer (ELMO, HDMI, etc.)

Quick Start

  1. Turn on the computer, log in with your credentials.
  2. Wake up the room control pad by touching the panel.
  3. To use a screen with the project, please use the key on the wall behind the computer.
  4. Open Teams (Panopto is currently unavailable for this classroom).
  5. Turn on camera on Microsoft Teams – the default setting is the room camera. You can change the input on the room control panel.
  6. Chose camera angel on the room control pad.
  7. Turn on the mic – either lapel mic or handheld mic. The computer will automatically connect once the device is turned on.
  8. Depending on the presentation, you can record through Teams.
  9. Depending on the presentation, you can also share your screen.
  10. You can also change the input on the device through the room control pad.

Leaving the room

  1. Wipe down all used surfaces.
  2. Clean up any trash. Trash cans and recycling bins are located outside of the classroom, as well.
  3. Pull the projector screen up using the key behind the computer.
  4. Turn off the computer.
  5. Turn off ELMO.
  6. Turn off the room control panel.
  7. Turn off handheld mic, lapel mic.
  8. Turn off lights.

Microphones

Handheld
Hold down the red button on button of the mic. It will turn on automatically.

Lapel (LAV)
Open battery pack on the front of the square device. Press on.

Room Mic
The room mic will turn on automatically when it detects people in the classroom. This mic is not recommended as a device to record audience responses unless the responses are extremely loud.

FAQ

Why isn’t the mic working?

Check the battery level. Pam has more batteries downstairs.
Make sure the microphone is turned on.

Why isn’t the camera working?
Make sure to toggle the video button “ON” on Microsoft Teams.

Why is there feedback?
Mute mic on Microsoft Teams.
Ask the audience to mute their own mics.

The presenter has their own laptop.
You can connect the computer and the laptop through the HDMI cord. There is one already plugged into the desktop computer. This cord always stays in the room.

Why isn’t ____ working?
For all other issues, contact IT through the “HELP” button on the room control pad.
