Program Overview

This program conducts a variety of policy-focused research initiatives targeted to blending knowledge of the technical, political, and social aspects of transportation with appropriate research methods to gain a richer understanding of transportation and provide policy guidance for addressing transportation problems. Research initiatives rely on the best available local and national data in conjunction with state-of-the-practice methods to focus on a range of policy issues such as transportation trends and conditions, transit agency governance, social demographic conditions and travel behavior, project impact assessment, demand forecasting, transportation data analysis, and transportation finance, among others. Grants and contracts from local, state, and national clients support projects that range in scope from conducting peer oversight and providing technical support to managing multi-party, multi-year research projects.
