Zachary Haber , PhD, PE
Biography
Dr. Zachary Haber is an assistant professor of structural engineering at the University of South Florida (USF). Before joining USF, Dr. Haber spent eight years as a researcher at the U.S. Federal Highway Administration’s Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center. During his tenure at FHWA, Dr. Haber led structural engineering research projects related to ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC), modular bridge systems, seismic design, bridge preservation, and life-cycle assessment of bridges. Dr. Haber has served as a lead or supporting investigator for projects sponsored by Caltrans, Florida Department of Transportation, New York State Department of Transportation, the National Transportation Safety Board, NCHRP, and private industry. In addition to research activities, Dr. Haber has extensive experience leading or supporting technology transfer and implementation initiatives. Between January 2020 and November 2022, Dr. Haber led an innovation implementation initiative entitled “UHPC for Bridge Preservation and Repair”, which was a part of FHWA’s Every Day Counts (EDC) program. Additionally, he is a registered professional engineer in the state of Florida and a reviewer for numerous peer-reviewed engineering journals. Dr. Haber has more than 50 publications and has delivered more than 100 technical presentations to transportation stakeholders.
