Profile

Shu Yang is a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Center for Urban Transportation Research (CUTR) at University of South Florida (USF) with a specialization in Intelligent Transportation Systems, geostatistics and Connected Vehicles technology. He is interested in applying statistical theory to answer real-world traffic-related research questions. More specially, his work assists in measuring travel time on freeways, theoretically and empirically answering freeway travel time reliability related questions, and also applying new technology to understand traffic movement in an urban environment. Before he joined the CUTR August 2017, he graduated with a doctoral degree from the Department of Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics at the University of Arizona (UA) with the honor Outstanding Seniors and Graduate Students. He has published 10 first-authored journal papers in Journal of Transport Geography, Journal of Intelligent Transportation Systems, Journal of Transportation Research Record, etc. His personal website (onthejeep.wordpress.com) has blogged his system and data-driven programming skills and showed his passions of technology transfer from theory to applications.
