Biography
Michael is a seasoned executive and life-long educator with over 40 years of organizational development, program management, marketing, and public policy experience. He humbly combines his recognized subject matter expertise with a distinguished record of trust and ethical conduct to help organizations and individuals plan their futures, tell their stories, and formulate strategic partnerships. He serves as a Senior Researcher with the Center for Urban Transportation Research and adjunct faculty member in the College of Engineering at the University of South Florida where he spearheads airport and public transit-related research and education initiatives. Michael’s broad-based professional career includes service as Director of Marketing and Business Development for the Des Moines International Airport, Director of the Air & Transit Division for the Iowa Department of Transportation, Business Retention Specialist for the Greater Des Moines Chamber of Commerce, Executive Director of the Southwest Iowa Planning Council, Program Manager for the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority, and Program Planner for Dynatrend Incorporated. Michael proudly serves as a student mentor for the Pinellas County School District, a volunteer for the Meals on Wheels for Kids program in St. Petersburg, and as an Ambassador Emeritus for the Airport Cooperative Research Program. Michael is President of the Board of St. Petersburg-based Impact Pinellas and also serves on the board of Neighborly Care Network. He is the former Board Chair of Daystar Life Center and the Gulfport Senior Center Foundation and has served on the Boards of the University of South Florida’s Osher Lifelong Learning Center, the Tampa Bay Beaches Chamber of Commerce, the Wesley Chapel Chamber of Commerce, and the Iowa Transportation Museum.
Michael holds a Master’s degree in Business Leadership from Upper Iowa University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Community and Regional Planning from Iowa State University.
