Dr. Behzad Karimi is a Research Associate at the Center for Urban Transportation Research (CUTR) at the University of South Florida. He earned his Ph.D. in Transportation Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2015. His research areas of interest are on travel behavior analysis, travel demand modeling, survey design, traffic safety, discrete choice analysis, and econometric modeling. His studies, in recent years, are on Florida’s Comprehensive Motorcycle Safety Study (2015-17), Metropolitan Freight Transportation: Implementing Effective Strategies (NCHRP Project 08-106, 2016-17), MPO Staffing and Organizational Structure (FHWA/FTA, 2016-17), Analysis of Seniors’ Travel Behavior (2013) and Illinois High-Speed Rail Ridership Estimation (2012). He is also an Adjunct Professor at Sykes College of Business at the University of Tampa. His paper on Traffic Safety earned the Best Student Paper Award at the 2014 TRB’s Data Contest. His most recent publication is a contributory chapter in the book: Contemporary Issues in Supply Chain Management and Logistics.
