CUTR Advisory Board
CUTR appreciates the service and support provided by the CUTR Advisory Board. Board members are appointed to two-year terms by the Dean of Engineering to the President of the University of South Florida, reviewed and approved by the Florida Transportation Commission and confirmed by the State University System of Florida Board of Governors. Specific responsibilities of the Advisory Board include:
- Periodically and objectively review and advise the center concerning its research program.
- Provide advice and support to CUTR executive director, faculty, staff and students on issues relating to transportation research and education and CUTR strategic vision.
- Serve as a voice, advocate and ambassador for CUTR to its various constituents and stakeholders, including research sponsors, agencies, industry, the transportation community, alumni, and colleagues.
- Introduce CUTR to new potential research sponsors and assist in CUTR fundraising activities toward funding more scholarships and endowments and improving physical space.

CUTR Advisory Board Members
Ysela has a diverse background as a planner and brings over 30 years of leadership experience working with DOT’s and Transit Agencies. She oversaw Miami-Dade’s transportation transit system as the county’s Transit Director from 2011 to 2015 and is credited with establishing the metro’s Orange Line to Miami international Airport, strengthening Miami-Dade Transit’s partnership with the Federal Government and restoring commitment to transit. She also served with the Florida and Virginia DOTs, establishing leadership and direction in the development of multimodal plans and programs as well as planning and operations programs.
Ysela has been recognized nationally by the National Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO) as well as by Cien Latinos/Hispano’s de Miami-Dade for her transportation work in the state of Florida. She is also an active member of TRB and the National Academy of Science and Engineering.
