Training Tomorrow’s Transportation Workforce
At the Center for Urban Transportation Research (CUTR), our mission extends far beyond research—we are committed to developing the next generation of transportation professionals. Each semester, our student employees and interns play a vital role in advancing innovative projects, gaining hands-on experience, and preparing to make meaningful contributions to the industry.
This spring, we are proud to recognize two University of South Florida graduates joining Florida’s transportation workforce.
Kiley Barton
Bachelor’s Degree in Advertising, Specializing in Marketing & Communications
Kiley Barton has applied the marketing and communication skills gained from her Advertising degree to her work with CUTR’s Transit Research Program team. As part of the program, she dedicated over a year and a half to an internship with the Tampa Bay Clean Cities Coalition, where she made valuable contributions to initiatives that support cleaner, more efficient transportation solutions in the region. Her teammates in TRP will miss her.
After graduation, Kiley plans to continue building her career in the transportation and energy sector as a Marketing Associate with Lithionics Battery in Clearwater, Florida. Her commitment to communication positions her well for success in this growing field.
Ramy Sadig
Master’s Degree in Geography with a GIS Certificate
Ramy Sadig’s journey with CUTR is an example of long-term growth and impact. Beginning as an undergraduate student in 2019, Ramy steadily developed his expertise while contributing to a wide range of projects.
Most notably, Ramy contributed to CUTR’s work with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), supporting the management of transit agency data through the Federal Transit Administration’s National Transit Database (NTD). His responsibilities included data collection, analysis, and reporting—critical components in ensuring accurate and reliable transit information. He also assisted in planning and administering annual NTD workshops for agencies across the state, contributing to knowledge-sharing and capacity building within Florida’s transit community.
The recent graduate will soon begin a full-time position with BGE, Inc. Ramy’s technical skills, dedication, and years of experience at CUTR have prepared him to make an immediate impact in his professional career.

Kiley and Ramy exemplify the core of CUTR’s mission—bridging academic learning with real-world experience. Their achievements highlight the importance of investing in students today to shape the future of mobility tomorrow.
