The Center for Urban Transportation Research (CUTR) is pleased to announce that Dr. Yaye Mallon Keita, Research Associate in CUTR’s ITS, Traffic Operations and Safety Program, has been appointed to serve on the National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) 23-55 panel, Workforce Development in Digital Transportation and Infrastructure Technologies for State DOTs. Dr. Keita is a transportation planning and engineering researcher whose expertise includes transportation technology, safety, intermodal transportation, and big data analytics.
The NCHRP 23-55 project will develop a framework and practical tools to help state departments of transportation (DOTs) build and sustain the workforce skills needed to support rapidly evolving digital transportation technologies, including data analytics, connected and automated systems, artificial intelligence, sensor networks, and digital asset management. The initiative will address workforce capacity, skill gaps, recruitment, retention, and employee reskilling needs across state transportation agencies.
Funded through the National Cooperative Highway Research Program with support from state DOTs through the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), the project reflects a national commitment to preparing the transportation workforce for the future.
Dr. Keita’s appointment highlights CUTR’s leadership in transportation innovation and workforce development. Her participation will help ensure that research and practitioner perspectives are represented as the panel develops guidance to help transportation agencies successfully navigate the digital transformation of infrastructure and mobility systems.
