CUTR is proud to share that Julie Bond, Director of CUTR’s Transportation Options Program, has been selected to serve on the Board of Directors of The 82 Alliance, a national nonprofit mobility think tank focused on reimagining how people move through their communities.
Julie’s appointment reflects both her individual leadership in the transportation demand management (TDM) field and CUTR’s long-standing commitment to advancing innovative, people-centered transportation solutions through research, education, and action.
At CUTR, Julie leads nationally recognized initiatives in transportation demand management, commuter benefits, workplace mobility strategies, and safety outreach. She also serves as Program Director for Best Workplaces for Commuters (BWC), a role she has held since 2007, working with employers across the country to implement innovative commuting solutions that improve mobility, equity, and workforce well-being. In addition, Julie is an instructor for the TDM Professionals Learning Series, helping to build professional capacity and leadership across the transportation community.
The 82 Alliance brings together public and private sector leaders to improve transportation systems through collaboration and shared learning. Julie’s experience aligns closely with the organization’s mission to create safer, more connected, and more accessible mobility networks.
“I’m honored to join The 82 Alliance Board and collaborate with professionals who are deeply committed to how transportation systems serve people and communities,” said Bond. “Creating safer, more connected networks requires thoughtful dialogue, shared learning, and practical implementation. I look forward to contributing my experience and working together to advance solutions that improve access and mobility.”
Leaders at The 82 Alliance also highlighted CUTR’s role as a trusted thought leader in the transportation mobility space.
“Julie and the team at the University of South Florida’s Center for Urban Transportation Research have been thought leaders for many years,” said Rob Henry, President of The 82 Alliance. “Her leadership will help guide our organization as we work toward a better transportation future.”
Julie’s board appointment exemplifies how CUTR faculty and staff support the center’s mission in our communities—through service, professional leadership, community engagement, and collaboration at the national level. CUTR’s mission emphasizes not only advancing innovative multimodal transportation solutions, but also developing leaders who help shape the future of transportation in practice.
Prior to joining CUTR, Julie worked at the Utah Transit Authority, where she gained foundational experience in public transportation and commuter-focused programs. She holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of South Florida and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Southern Utah University. She is also a League Cycling Instructor, reflecting her personal and professional commitment to safe, multimodal travel options for people of all ages and abilities.
CUTR congratulates Julie on this well-deserved honor and applauds her continued dedication to improving how transportation systems serve communities. Her leadership on the Board of The 82 Alliance reinforces CUTR’s role as a nationally recognized center where research, engagement, and real-world impact come together.
