Jason Jackman, MPA, senior research associate at the University of South Florida and project manager for the Campus Peer to Peer program, visited Florida International University to meet with Priyanka Alluri, PhD, who serves as the faculty advisor for the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) Student Chapter at FIU. Several students from the ITE Student Chapter assist with the peer trainings and outreach efforts and the meeting focused on strengthening the campus program with ITE.
While on the FIU campus, the FIU student trainers conducted outreach to local businesses surrounding the campus by providing safety materials. By working together with the community, they aim to extend their impact beyond the university boundaries and ensure everyone within the vicinity benefits from pedestrian and bicycle safety information.
The Peer to Peer education program is sponsored by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).
