Future Urban Air Mobility (UAM) in the Tampa Bay Region
Urban Air Mobility (UAM) is a topic that has received media attention in the last few years as communities consider electric air transport vehicles for transit, cargo, and medical applications. NASA has developed a patent-pending planning GIS-based tool to help local communities site locations for vertiports. The tool allows communities to customize the tool with their land use, zoning, and transportation information to prioritizing potential locations for these facilities. The Hillsborough TPO will discuss our partnership with NASA and TBARTA in piloting the tool in Hillsborough County and provide a brief demonstration.
