TAMPA, Fla.—The City of Largo is partnering with the Tampa Bay Clean Cities Coalition, Pinellas County Schools, and Florida Transportation Systems, Inc. to hold an Electric School Bus Demo & Ride on Friday, April 8 at 10am at Largo Central Park. This event will feature speakers from the City of Largo, Tampa Bay Clean Cities Coalition, Pinellas County Schools, and Florida Transportation Systems, Inc. to provide an opportunity for attendees to learn about electric buses and ride in the Blue Bird Vision Electric Type C school bus. The Vision Electric, equipped with Cummins PowerDrive, delivers zero-emissions driving with up to 120 miles of electric range on a single charge. The demonstration will showcase both the clean energy and operational capabilities of the electric bus as the bus loops around Largo Central Park.
This initiative is part of a nationwide campaign to upgrade older diesel school bus models with lower-emission technologies to reduce exposure of harmful diesel exhaust. In Florida, funding for the electrification of school buses is being made available through state and federal opportunities.
Speakers include Mayor Woody Brown from the City of Largo; Clint Herbic, Associate Superintendent, Chief Operating Officer for Pinellas County Schools; Alexander Kolpakov, Coordinator for Tampa Bay Clean Cities Coalition; and Christopher Rustman, President of Florida Transportation Systems, Inc.
