The Transportation Equity Toolkit is now available!
The Transportation Equity Toolkit is a resource for MPOs, transportation agencies, and communities as they work to advance equity in traditionally underserved communities and more equitably distribute transportation investments. The toolkit was developed by a research team at the Center for Urban Transportation Research at the University of South Florida with funding from the Center for Transportation Equity, Decisions, and Dollars at the University of Texas at Arlington. It provides a framework for a transportation equity needs assessment and an equity-based project identification and prioritization process. A variety of tools and methods are provided for these frameworks, including the following:
• Transportation Equity Audit Tool: a survey-based tool designed for use by agency staff, community organizers, and community members to identify community transportation needs from an equity perspective; and
• Transportation Equity Scorecard Tool: a spreadsheet tool to assist the staff of MPOs and other transportation planning agencies in prioritizing projects that advance equity.
The Transportation Equity Toolkit will help you as you work to create more opportunities for mobility and accessibility in the communities you serve!
I appreciate how the article highlights the toolkit’s role in promoting equity in transportation. By addressing issues related to accessibility, affordability, and inclusive, the toolkit offers a comprehensive approach to ensuring that transportation projects serve all members of the community, regardless of their sociology-economic background, race, or physical abilities.
