Smartphone-based Connected Bicycle Prototype Development for a Safer Multimodal Transportation System
The webinar will present the work completed towards the development of a prototype application for connected bicycles, that allows users to be safer in the future world of increasing connectivity between road users and infrastructure.
Presenter: Achilleas Kourtellis, Ph.D., Center for Urban Transportation Research
Achilleas Kourtellis, Ph.D. has worked on numerous safety projects for the U.S. DOT, National Center for Transit Research, FDOT, FHWA and NHTSA evaluating technologies for transit buses, large trucks, passenger vehicles, motorcycles, pedestrians and bicycles. He has worked on the technology development and system integration for with naturalistic studies and conducted controlled driving experiments. In the last few years, his research has focused on Connected Vehicle technology safety evaluation as well as several safety related technology systems review for pedestrians, and traffic signals. He has served as Principal and Co-Principal Investigator on more than 30 projects and currently works at CUTR as the assistant director of the ITS, Traffic Operations and Safety Program and a member of the Automated Connected Mobility Evaluation Program.
