Position:  VEHICLE FIELD INSPECTOR – JOB 20995

Perform Bus System Safety and Security Reviews in accordance with Chapter 14-90, Florida Administration Code with the CUTR Safety, Security and Operations.

The incumbent of this position will be responsible to manage/administer the System Safety Program Plan.  This plan includes management/oversight of (but not limited to) the following deliverables: Monitor safety policies and responsibilities, vehicle and equipment standards and procurement criteria, operational standards and procedures, bus drivers and employee selection, driving requirements, bus driver and employee training, vehicle maintenance, investigation of events, hazard identification and resolution, equipment for transporting wheelchairs, safety data acquisition and analysis, wireless communication plan and procedures, policy on the use of agency issued wireless communication devices, driver education program, and safety standards for private contractors.

Prepare written summary of each safety and security compliance review and assist in the preparation of draft and final Bus System Safety and Security Review Reports.

Provide technical assistance and on-site bus system safety and security guidance to Florida’s transit agencies during compliance reviews and any associated follow-up assistance.

Coordinate the conduct of reviews with FDOT Central Office and District Office personnel, Substance Abuse Management Oversight and Technical Assistance Program staff, and members of the Preventative Maintenance Planning and Technical Assistance Program.
