There have been five wrong way interstate accidents that have resulted in eleven fatalities since February 2014. Florida Department of Transportation and the Center for Urban Transportation Research are investigating safety concerns and implementation of new devices to detect wrong way drivers. Dr. Pei- Sung Lin was quoted by WFLA News Channel 8 in the article, “5th deadly wrong-way crash kills 25-year-old woman” published on September 22, 2014. Dr. Lin addresses the dangers of alcohol related crashed and suggests law enforcement programs that aim at decreasing the number of drunk drivers on the road.
