The program’s overall goal is to increase the use of transportation options to decrease congestion, through targeted strategies. The New North area is one of the three largest traffic generators in Hillsborough County. This area involves multiple jurisdictions, including the cities of Temple Terrace and Tampa, and many identifiable areas within the City of Tampa, such as the University Area, the Busch Boulevard corridor, and New Tampa. NNTA creates and promotes transportation programs to meet the specific needs of key commuter and traveler markets in the New North. Its emphasis is on developing and encouraging alternative modes of transportation that are coordinated with the entire transportation system, to provide effective and efficient service.
