Long Range Transportation Plan Review
One of the core documents produced through the metropolitan transportation planning process is the long range transportation plan (LRTP) in Florida. CUTR completed a comprehensive review of the Florida MPO’s LRTPs examining the content, format, methodology, and priorities of each plan in relation to its peers, plans from previous cycles, and generally accepted planning practices in 1997, 2002, 2008, and 2013. The purpose of these reviews is to identify state of the practice, estimate a 20-year statewide shortfall between transportation needs and reasonably available revenues and make suggestions for improving Florida’s metropolitan LRTPs and practices. This presentation will focus on the observations of current practice made by CUTR along with suggestions for future efforts. The MPOs statewide financial shortfall estimate will also be discussed.
