On October 3, 2013, the Center for Urban Transportation Research (CUTR) at the University of South Florida hosted the National Transit Livability Performance Measures – Challenges and Opportunities webinar. Martin Catala, Director of the Transportation Geo-Spatial and Informatics group at CUTR spoke about the opportunities and challenges encountered in the development of a National Transit Livability Index. His focus was on the challenges of producing a national livability database to support the Transit Livability Explorer web application (www.transitlivability.org). The research project is a collaborative effort with the Texas Transportation Institute and the University of Oregon that developed measures based on nationally available data sources.
