This webcast discussed open data sources for public transportation from an application developer’s perspective. Lost in the alphabet soup of data specifications? Attendees learned about the formats that are important to app developers, including the General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS), GTFS-real-time, and the Service Interface for Real-time Information (SIRI). Attendees learned how a transit information system is typically constructed and the DO’s and DON’T of data sharing. Both real-time and static data were discussed. Finally, tips on being developer-friendly were presented.
