Pedestrian and bicycle safety is a very important issue especially in Florida. Florida was ranked #1 for pedestrian fatalities per capita in the U.S. in 2010 based on NHTSA Traffic Safety Facts. To actively promote pedestrian and bicycle safety in the USF campus and its surrounding area to save lives and prevent injuries, the Center for Urban Transportation Research (CUTR) at USF has obtained the approval from the FDOT Traffic Safety Office to conduct the USF Bulls Walk and Bike Week ‐ Walk Wise, Bike Smart, and Drive Carefully educational campaign through the Community Traffic Safety Program Support grant and pedestrian safety grants.
The campaign will run from September 10 to 14, 2012. The campaign will promote a campus‐wide awareness of pedestrian and bicycle safety.
