Don Crane was President of Floridians for Better Transportation from 1988 to 2003 and served in the Florida House of Representatives from 1972 to 1976 and was a sponsor of Florida’s first Land and Water Management Act. He was appointed to numerous boards and commissions by Florida governors Kirk, Askew, Graham, and Chiles, including serving on the Governing Board of the Southwest Florida Water Management District, the Environmental Land Management Study Commission, the Transportation & Land Use Study Committee, and the Freight Stakeholders Task Force. He served as a Board member and Chair of the Pinellas Suncoast Chamber of Commerce and was recognized with the Bay Area Partnership Award “for advancing cross-county cooperation” and as one of ARTBA’s Top Public Officials of the 20th Century. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of the South and a master’s degree from the University of North Carolina.
