Florida TDM Clearinghouse

The following describes the TDM programs and services provided by CUTR under the Florida TDM Clearinghouse. The TDM Clearinghouse is funded by the Florida Department of Transportation.

TDM Clearinghouse

Sponsoring Agency: Florida Department of Transportation
Project Dates: 1991 to present
To assist local communities, employers and other businesses in the development of public/private partnerships to address local traffic congestion concerns, the Florida Department of Transportation contracted with CUTR to establish the TDM Clearinghouse. In addition to providing technical assistance on the formation/redefinition of these partnerships, the TDM Clearinghouse provides training to Employee Transportation Coordinators, researches TDM-related questions for local governments and serves the needs of nearly fifteen commuter assistance programs in Florida. CUTR has assisted in the development of 11 transportation management associations (TMAs) in eight cities (Miami, Tampa, Orlando, Ft. Lauderdale, Gainesville, Tallahassee, Jacksonville, and West Palm Beach). Other projects funded under the Clearinghouse include the development of evaluation criteria for TMAs and the performance evaluation design, data collection, and analysis for several commuter assistance programs.

TDM Resource Center

Sponsoring Agency: Florida Department of Transportation
Project Dates: 1991 to present
CUTR has developed and maintains an extensive library and bibliography of over 6,000 transportation- specific materials, including books, journal articles, promotional materials, videos and position papers. All of the information has been catalogued in a computer data base for easy retrieval. A TDM database is in the process of development and contains about 1,500 materials.

Commute Alternatives Systems Handbook

Sponsoring Agencies: Florida Department of Transportation, Department of Community Affairs - Florida Energy Office
Project Dates: 1991 and 1995
The Commute Alternative Systems Handbook (C*A*S*H): - provides a general introduction to TDM; - includes an overview of the state and national conditions which have led to increased TDM activities; - describes various TDM strategies, implementation mechanisms and performance measurements; and, - gives details on state and local government programs that offer TDM assistance. Over 1,000 handbooks have been distributed throughout the country to developers, local decision-makers, planners, metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs), traffic engineers, TDM professionals and others. The handbook received the "Award of Excellence" from the Association for Commuter Transportation's Southeast Chapter.
