SERVICES OFFERED

The Brevard County Board of County Commissioners sponsors transit services in Brevard County. Organizationally, Space Coast Area Transit (SCAT) is the Transit Services Department of Brevard County, Florida. The Transit Services Department is responsible for planning and operating the Space Coast Area Transit system. Space Coast Area Transit is operated to provide public transit services to all persons in Brevard County. The system consists of three major components: fixed-route, paratransit, and vanpool.

Fixed-route services operate throughout the County to provide public transit service. These services operate on a fixed schedule at designated stops.

Paratransit services operate throughout the County to serve the mobility needs of those who are unable to utilize fixed-route services. Paratransit service is generally door-to-door or curb-to-curb service accessed through a system of trip-by-trip reservations. SCAT provides or arranges for such services to meet the needs of the citizens of our county who are eligible for Transportation Disadvantaged, Medicaid, and/or Americans with Disabilities Act services.

Van Pool services are operated to provide assistance to groups of commuters and various social service agencies.

In addition to these services, the Space Coast Commuter Assistance program provides services such as carpool matching, ridesharing and telecommuting information for the purpose of encouraging alternatives to the use of single occupant vehicles.
