Dr. John Lu Joins USF Transportation Program

Dr. John Lu has joined the USF Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering's transportation faculty. Dr. Lu holds a PhD in Transportation/Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, an MS in Transportation and Electrical Engineering from Tongji University in Shanghai, China, and a BS in Electrical Automation Engineering from Beijing University of Science and Technology in Beijing, China.

Prior to joining USF, Dr. Lu served as an Assistant Professor in the Transportation Research Center and Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the University Alaska, Fairbanks, and as Acting Research Section Head and Research Section Supervisor at the Engineering Research and Development Bureau for the New York State Department of Transportation in Albany. Dr. Lu's research interests include traffic engineering, traffic operations and safety, intelligent transportation systems, traffic flow, and transportation systems modeling and computer simulation. He is a registered Professional Engineer and holds memberships in the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), among others. He is the author of more than 48 publications, articles, and presentations.

In the fall semester 1995, Dr. Lu is teaching three graduate courses Traffic Engineering, Access Management, and Pavement Management Systems. CUTR extends a warm welcome to Dr. Lu and looks forward to assisting him and Dr. Ram Pendyala in the continued development of USF's transportation program.
