This
CD-ROM, produced by CUTR for the Florida Department of Transportation, can be
viewed in three different fashions. All require the use of the Adobe Acrobat
or equivalent PDF (Portable Document Format) reader. Visit the following address
to download the free Adobe Acrobat Reader for your appropriate operating system.
The data within also uses files in Microsoft Excel format. While this is not necesary to view the PDF files, it is necesary if you wish to view and manipulate the data used to produce the tables.
You can obtain the information distributed on the CD-ROM in the following fashions:
-via Online (HTTP), navigating the files as one would via the CD-ROM. This method can be fairly slow, as the total data for all books (including text, graphics, and charts) numbers close to 35 Megabytes. It is recommended that this be done only with a connection speed higher than that of a standard dial-up modem.
-Downloading the .ZIP file, which contains all files from CD-ROM, pre-linked to the correct folders to preserve data integrity. A program such as Winzip or Aladdin StuffIt is required to extract the contents from this file. Once downloaded, extract the files to a folder (Such as "1998_Transit_CD", minus the quotes), and be sure to preserve the folder names.
-Self Extracting executable (.EXE) file, which is similar to the ZIP file above, but does not require the use of an extraction program. This is for users of 32-bit Windows-based operating systems (Windows NT, 95, 98, 2000, ME). To use, download the file to your hard-drive or storage device, and run the executable. A dialog box will appear, and unless you wish to change the location of the destination files, press "Unzip". A confirmation message shall appear, and allow for vieing of the files. Navigate, using "My Computer" or "Windows Explorer", to the folder created (i.e. "1998_transit_cd"), and double click on the file titled "help.pdf"
