CUTR’s ITS, Traffic Operations, and Safety researchers work diligently with sponsoring
agencies and collaborate closely with other research partners on innovative projects to develop and apply new concepts and
technologies to solve real-world transportation problems.
ITS specialties include applying ITS technologies to existing transportation systems, comprehensive
evaluation of ITS deployments, advanced traffic management systems, advanced traveler information systems, system
traffic modeling, and weather management systems.
Traffic operations focuses on advanced traffic signal technologies, traffic control and operations, freeway management
and operations, traffic simulation, congestion management, and
traffic impact studies.
Safety focuses on highway and pedestrian safety, transit safety, incident management, interstate
route diversion, crash avoidance systems, safety program evaluation, and safe routes to schools.
CUTR is a charter member of ITS America, ITS Florida,
and the The Florida Department of Transportation's ITS Advisory Committee.
