Burleson to receive 2008 CUTR Transportation Achevement Award
Bob Burleson, Executive Director of the Florida Transportation Builders'
Association, has been selected to receive the 2008 CUTR Transportation
Achievement Award. A dinner in his honor will be held in October
2008 (date TBA). The award recognizes outstanding contributions to
the transportation industry in Florida and the U.S.

Williams, Seggerman receive Best Project Award
The
Transportation Planning Council of the Institute of Transportation
Engineers (ITE) awarded its 2008 Best Project Award winner to CUTR
researchers Kristine Williams and Karen Seggerman for their Transportation Concurrency: Best
Practices Guide. They will be recognized at the Honoree's Dinner at
the ITE Annual Meeting in August 2008 in
Anaheim , California
.

Zhou and CUTR team receive Davis
Productivity Award
CUTR
Senior Research Associate Huaguo Zhou and his
team received a Davis
Productivity Award (Distinguished Cash category) for their Mobile
Lighting Measurement System project.
Since
1989, the Davis Productivity Award program has publicly recognized and
rewarded state employees and work units whose work significantly and
measurably increases productivity and promotes innovation to improve the
delivery of state services and save money for Florida
taxpayers and businesses.

Ferraro receives Hillsborough BOCC recognition
CUTR
Research Associate Tony Ferraro recently received a Citizens Service
Award from the Hillsborough County Board of County
Commissioners . The award is made in recognition of “outstanding
contributions and service to the people of Hillsborough
County .”

Williams receives Fulbright
Award
Kristine Williams, director of CUTR's Planning &
Corridor Management Program, was recently awarded a Fulbright Senior Specialist grant to work at the Asian
Institute of Technology in Thailand
in June. She
will be collaborating with faculty of the AIT
Accident Research
Center on an exploration of
access management and its potential for improving transportation safety
in Thailand
. Activities will include lectures, policy research,
and curriculum development. The program complements a current World Bank
study to develop access management policies and guidelines for Thailand
. Williams
was a Peace Corps volunteer in Thailand
in the 1980s.

Polzin named to HART Board of Directors
Steve
Polzin, director of CUTR's Mobility Program, was recently appointed by
the Hillsborough County Board of County
Commissioners to the Hillsborough Area
Regional Transportation (HART) Board of Directors. He previously served on the Board from 1999
to 2005. He
also continues to serve as a member of the Hillsborough County
Transportation Task Force.
